Hamptons Center Youth Video Contest Announced!
The LGBT Network is launching its Hamptons Center Youth Video Contest, a contest among school gay-straight alliance (GSA) clubs in the five East End towns of Long Island. GSA clubs produce a 90-second video about the LGBT Network’s Hamptons Center to compete for three cash prizes, while raising awareness about the Hamptons Center, its location, and its services.
The LGBT Network thanks Otis Ford as the sponsor of the Hamptons Center Youth Video Contest. Cash prizes are provided courtesy of Otis Ford. Read the announcement about Otis Ford here.
The Youth Video Contest is open to any K-12 school gay-straight alliance (GSA) club. Guidelines are available on the LGBT Network’s web site here. GSA clubs produce short 90-second videos about the Hamptons Center, its location, and its services in a community awareness effort. Videos will be scored by a Contest Committee comprised of local community leaders and organization donors. The three GSA clubs with the top scoring videos will receive cash prizes: $500 for First Place, $300 for Second Place, and $200 for Third Place. All cash prizes are awarded directly to the school’s gay-straight alliance (GSA) club to further their anti-bullying efforts. The winners will be announced at a special Awards Reception at the Hamptons Center on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 6:00 pm.
Community members will be able to view the videos and and vote for their favorite as part of a “Fan Favorite” process. The video with the most views will receive a Fan Favorite Award and the chance for their video to be played at the Long Island Pride celebration in Long Beach (June 9-11).
The LGBT Network’s Hamptons Center is located at Old Whaler’s Church at 44 Union Street in Sag Harbor, just minutes from downtown Main Street and the harbor pier. The Hamptons Center is one of four LGBT community centers of the LGBT Network, and serves the five East End towns with a range of programs, including school outreach, youth drop-in and leadership development, a transgender group, older adult social programming, and activities for LGBT-headed families. HIV testing is available via appointment.
